One of our best and most popular facilities at St Martins School is the well equipped Library, which has just been refurbished to become 'The Hub’.
Extremely well resourced with fiction to non-fiction and specialist reference books, the library is stocked to match our curriculum and to encourage pupils to read.
The Library is an open access facility, manned by qualified members of staff from 8.30 am to 4.30pm.
There is a Homework club which all students are welcome to attend, which runs from 3.10 – 4.30 pm daily.
The library is also a careers library used by all years. This is particularly helpful in year 9 when deciding on Key Stage 4 options and in Year 11 when pupils are looking at the next steps in their education and careers.
The library is used as a base for support groups, which focus particularly on additional literacy lessons.
The library also acts as a place where pupils can go both at break and lunch to either read or complete homework tasks.
There is also the opportunity for pupils to become a library assistant, with this role comes responsibility, new skills and the chance to gain a qualification which is recognised in the workplace.
