Work experience for year 10

Work Experience for Year 10

Year 10 will undertake a week of 'work experience' from 17 - 21 July 2023. They will spend 17-20 in a work place then return to school on FRIDAY 21 July to share experiences and complete their log book.

Work Experience helps prepare students for the transition from School to the workplace and enables them to gain a wider understanding of the industrial and commercial world. As a result of this experience, students have the opportunity to develop interpersonal and social skills. Many also increase their self - confidence, independence and develop an awareness of their own potential. As a working environment cannot be replicated in the classroom this opportunity, we feel, provides the students with a very valuable experience.

School will be using a company called EBL who will complete the necessary checks in order for this experience to take place. They are part of Telford and Wrekin Council.

Students will have access to the EBL work experience placement data base where they can apply for a placement. School will then authorise the necessary checks.

Students and parents can ofcourse make contact with local employers who may not be on the database and with their agreement they can be added to the database. Students can then apply and necessary checks completed in order for the work experience placement to take place. Copy of a suggested letter can be accessed as a download at the bottom of this page.

If you are an employer and would like to offer a placement ( we would not allow parents to offer placements to their own child), please contact hannah.weaver@stm.318education.co.uk

Students that are unable to secure a placement will be in school where a work experience programme of study will be provided.
