Maternity Cover—Learning Support Assistant 24 hours (to work with the English Department)  term time only.  Grade 5, SCP 5 (£10.19 per hour which equates to £12,764 per annum pro rata,   £19,650 FTE)                   

                  We require a learning support assistant to work in KS3 to support the English department. 

You be required to work with the department in order to provide pupils with the level and type of support needed. This could be individuals or groups of pupils  during independent and/or group work, which includes challenging the more-able and supporting the less able. You may also be involved in supporting pupils with intimate care and/or those who have complex and more  challenging needs.

 He/she will understand the importance of standards in education and support the ethos of St Martins School where all students of all  abilities are equally valued.

Code of Practice on the English Language requirement for Public Sector Workers. From 1 October 2016 there is a statutory duty to ensure that each person in a customer-facing role speaks fluent English. This is in accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016. The Code states that "Members of staff who, as a regular and intrinsic part of their role, are required to speak to members of the public in English or Welsh if they are considered to be working in a customer-facing role."

This is relevant to but not limited to the following types of job roles; Teaching and Teaching Assistant roles, administrative and receptionist posts.

The ability to communicate at ease with stakeholders and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
